Bait and Switch

There sales practice is a total misrepresentation of what is actually offered. The ability to use freely is a total scam and the quality goes down ecery year. You could book online without membership for more than half and they offer no recouse.

Not no, but *** no. Run don’t give away your money.

Guest

No, they don't deserve you as customer.

Guest

Never. It is a total bait and switch.

I tried using my point this year and was told I would need to pay 3x what I would pay if I booked as a regular customer.

If I booked online without vacation club it was $2600 using the vacation club would cost me $810* ( 125 a day times 3 people 7 days plus 3 years of points at 900 per year maintenance plus the money we put down) I asked why would I do that and I was told go to the home resort. I dont think anyone wants to go to the same place for 50 years especially since the Palma Real location has removed most of the club members privlages such as private areas.

SCAM MELIA

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I left there in august of 2016 and they got me into the presentation because they offered me a free 4 day getaway to any melia hotel. well it was a timeshare presentation, they played hardball when we tried to leave and we ended up signing the contract putting 2500 down.

reading reviews and finding out it was a scam they didn't let us cancel, I've been getting the run around email here and they never responded to me. so what i did was cancel my card tell chase it was a total fraud because someone elses name was on my paperwork with my card and they refunded me all of my money. they are still calling asking for their money but i was told ignore them and they will go away. you don't have a deed signed with them it is only a vacation club so they can go on and give it to someone else.

if you look on your credit report they never ran your credit for a loan or nothing and it doesn't appear on your credit report so F them. I'm playing hardball with them and i suggest for everyone else to do the same.

I actually did that and now my credit score dropped 60 pts. Have to cancel this b.s.

Guest

I used to work for one of their service companies... If you still owe money for the purchase of the membership, they send the accounts to collections, and it may eventually affect your credit.

Now if your package is paid in full, you're No longer legally obligated to pay any other fees such as annual dues.. Unless you want to continue wasting your money.

Held hostage for 4 hrs. They rushed me through the signing, with no mention of an interest rate or exactly how many points per stay. Said the hotel stays would be free. Lies! The agent taped the folder with the contract and told me to open it when i got back home. Never told me there was a cancellation time limit. I was mislead and misinformed. Total scam! Trying to get out of it. Nobody returned my calls. Disputing everything. Don't go there!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
High stress sales pitch but the real issue is that they completely lied about what I was getting! They told me I could get vacation time in all the best resorts, but after I paid and signed the contract, I learned I only get the cheap resorts. Not even the resort I booked at was included. Lots of fees, lots of rules and regulations which make it impossible to get the value. I called to cancel once I got back to the states but of course it was impossible. They are liars and cheaters! I am so upset. I already paid $19,000.00. I called to book one of the free incentive vacation weeks and the amount of restrictions and rules makes it impossible. This is such a farce!

My wife and I went on vacation 7 years ago to Melia Caribe, where we attended a high pressure sales team, they wined and dined us with Champagne, gifts and a lot of promises of great deals. We are now living a nightmare with this company we cannot cancel, are stuck paying 1000$ in maintenance fees, and the worst part was we were promised that they would help us sell our time share of we wanted out. We we have been trying to cancel and get out for 3 years now, they say that the option of helping us sell changed and is no longer available. This is a scam and we can't get out of it.

Color me crazy, but you own a "vacation club," not a "timeshare." A timeshare has a deed and a contract. If you default, you can be sued.

If you stop paying on a vacation club, you are not allowed to use it anymore. That's it.

I would stop paying and take the phone off the hook. They will go away.

I'm trying to cancel too. I spoke to the member services supervisor yesterday.

she told me that if I stop paying I wont' be able to use their services and would assign my account to a collection agency. Accord to her our contract can't be cancel even after I collections go after me.

Tricked into purchasing, definitely a waste of time and very deceitful company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We were sold a club melia vacation club for $15,889 plus annual maintenance fee for options. The salespeople used lies that could not have been verified until when we tried to book our first vacation through the membership:salesperson made us believe that all-inclusive would be included in our stays, and used the all-inclusive hotel rates to make calculations to show us that being a member had economic advantages. Showed us an online tool where we could verify availability and number of points necessary for travel, so we could plan and book our vacations ourselves. This tool does not exist. Upon trying to do so we learned that instead of 5 nights we would get 1-3 nights only salesperson said that through the RCI we would have access to hotels in the same standard/level as Melia with the points we were purchasing.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We were tricked into buying a membership in April 2014 at the caribe tropical in punta Cana. The salespersons lied to us, and failed to mention several rules, feed and restrictions for booking vacations that were not in the contract.

After investing $9k so far in this vacation club, we are trying to book the first trip and have found out that our points expire if we don't use now. They have little availability and what they are offering us as options is ridiculous! To offer one example, we could apply our points on a week off season in our home resort however the all inclusive must be paid separately. The amount we would have to pay is only $800 less than if we just go to Expedia and book the same days at the same hotel, all-inclusive.

It doesn't make any sense that we'd pay a $12k principal and then $905 annual fee in order to get s $800 discount.

Then, there's no way to cancel this!

No one would take it not even for free. Total and complete scam!!

So Im From near by and Im currently on vacation. Ive learned that you don't have to give them another dime.

I too invested over $9000 with options to travel every other year. So stop the payment to your bank and don't give them another dime

Guest

Same exact thing happened to us in Cozumel a few years ago - we were absolutely "Hustled". I'm somewhat ashamed of myself for being sold this pile of ***.

Guest

Melia contacted us and agreed to cancel our contract.

Overcharged at checkout

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have many complaints about this club. At checkout we were given a bill for 63904.47 pesos which converts to $4067.00 US, but when we checked our credit card statement we were charged $4469.00. After several hours and phone calls, we were told we should have taken care of it before leaving Mexico. I was forced to have my credit card company put a hold on the charge. While we were on vacation at Paradisus Cancun, the concierge could not get us dinner reservations for our large group. One night she told us she made reservations for 3 small groups at 3 different times. When we showed up at the restaurant all 3 groups were told that we didn't have any reservations. Another night all she could get was 9:30 pm. Too late for most of us to eat. When we first checked in we told concierge that it was my mother's 87th Birthday on Friday. Glendy never made reservations for that night and told me she couldn't get us a cake. After going directly to the Hotel reservations desk, we made a dinner reservation and ordered a cake ourselves. In all the years of traveling, I never spent so much time at the concierge trying to resolve issues! It seems to me that it is better to be a hotel guest than a Club member!!!!

Sol Melia Vacation Club - Membership Review from Los Angeles, California

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
i bought a club melia membership on 2014 november. was disappointed with how they falsely marketed their product. talked to their customer support but was not able to convince them that they lied to me when they were presenting me the products. complained to a bunch of government agencies. club melia reconsidered after they accidentally provided me an evidence that i was looking for. i was looking for a place to store my evidence and instead took a screenshot and posted it in here: http://clubmeliafalsemarketing.blogspot.com they cancelled my contract in 2015 April 12. good luck on your complaints. ps. customer service is well trained. does not easily gets upset. they respond pretty fast on my inquiries not related to the cancellation of my contract.

We dodged the bullet

At our second stay at Melia Caribe, we were approached by a guy called David who promised T shirts, a beach bag, and assorted other goodies if we would go to a "60 minute" presentation whereby they promised to save us 45% of our cost of staying at the resort. This turned into a two and a half hour rambling, wandering presentation given by another guy called Abraham which showed us the resort but which never did actually spell out the costs and benefits of the membership. We walked when they started talking 50K for the membership fee. After all that, they gave us a cheap coffee cup which we left on the counter. Funny thing, we saw both of those guys later in the trip and they looked right through us, like we weren't there. Anything that relies on such hard sell tactics, can't have any real value.

MELIA VACATION CLUB SCAM

Iam a French citizen. I bought a club melia timeshare in 2010 and used it every year since then in the home resort in Paradisus Palma real in the Dominican republic. I want to get out of it but they will not take it back . I deeply regret to have signed this contract which does not protect the owner at all; (I have reviewed it recently). Has anyone been able to get rid of it? Resale to the companies that advertise online is impossible. I can confirm that all resorts are not all inclusive. However, I have been able to obtain transfers for 14 Dollars return arranged by club melia. They just want your money and do not want to know about giving up membership.

We bought in 2009, haven't used it and want to get rid of it. Anyone has a way to do so let us know.

Promised could be used all over the US.

When we finally looked into using it the two places were Orlando, FL and Atlanta, GA, two places I have been many times. Ugh.

Guest

Absolutely dead on! We have the same issues with this company. Would like to hear others who have successfully dumped this group.
